Karan Johar-Ajay Devgn Open Up About Their OLD Rift On Koffee With Karan 8; Filmmaker Recalls, ‘Took A Minute For Us To Go Back To Normalcy’
Karan Johar and Ajay Devgn had gotten into a cold war when their movies Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil were released on the big screens on the same day in 2016, they opened up about the same during the recent episode of Koffee With Karan season 8
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar shares a close bond with actors Kajol and Ajay Devgn. They often take the internet by storm when their conversations go viral on social media. However, their relationship took a turn for the worse when KJo’s ‘Ae DIl Hai Mushkil’ and Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’ clashed at the box office in 2016. The fight between the filmmaker and actor was started because of a tweet by KRK, who stated that he was paid by the director to bash the actor’s movie. This also led to a major fallout between him and his best friend Kajol. Well, Karan and Ajay recently opened up about their fallout.
During the latest episode of Koffee With Karan season 8, Ajay graced Karan’s celebrity chat show with Singham director Rohit Shetty, where they opened up about their fallout and how they reconciled later without much discussion. The filmmaker also added how he has sworn that he will never release his movies on the same day as her husband. The discussion started after the rapid-fire round where the 54-year-old actor shared that the filmmaker was one of his ‘sworn enemies’. Shocked by his revelation the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director addresses their disagreement. Calling it a ‘misunderstanding and misconception,’ he recalled how he didn’t speak with him and Kajol. He went on add how even Devgn must have been facing a troubled time as he and the actress were very close friends. ALSO READ: THROWBACK! Talking about the short reconciliation, Bollywood Shaadis quoted the 51-year-old filmmaker saying, “We were in the same studio and I said I want to meet him because he was there and he agreed to meet me immediately. He said ‘let’s not talk about anything. You are close to Kajol. We are one industry and we should…’ And it took a minute for us to go back to normalcy.”
For the unversed, the head honcho of Dharma Productions opened up about the entire ordeal in his book ‘An Unsuitable Boy’ in 2017. He poured his heart out about the fallout and how the ordeal affected him emotionally. He had gone on to share how Kajol’s reaction had broken his trust and every bit of emotion he had felt over their friendship for the past 25 years. He went on to say that he feels nothing for her as she did one of the most humiliating things to a person who loves her so deeply.
The best friends, though, couldn’t stay angry at each other. Once Karan welcomed his twins Yash and Roohi, Kajol was one of the first to wish him well. While they did take their time to rekindle their friendship, today they are as strong as ever.
